Dr. Yoo's research examines language and cognitive recovery in adults with neurogenic communication disorders. She focuses on story retelling as an intervention to support improved communication abilities, investigates how artificial intelligence can be applied to aphasia assessment and language analysis, and explores processing speed as a critical mechanism in language recovery. Together, these lines of work aim to clarify how linguistic complexity, cognitive demands, and therapeutic engagement shape recovery, with the long-term goal of developing evidence-based and scalable interventions that improve the quality of life for individuals with aphasia and related conditions.
